Even here in South Florida, (paved paradise) we have many strange and potentially lethal critters. I think people are curious about bugs because it is almost a primal fear of the unknown and a feeling that you can't control the situation. Like Charlton Heston's movie-Lenigen versus the Ants or Arachniphobia. The little boogers just keep coming. Surely the bugs will inherit the Earth.
