I live in south florida and we have 3 different species trying to get in the house. The smallest ones we call sugar ants. They can run through a screen.
We use an exterior product called home defense. It is a spray that dries and will last for several months. Friends have tried Cayenne powder around the foundation but rain dilutes it.I hate any chemicals inside. We use ultrasonic repellers inside. These work on roaches and spiders and God forbid--Rodents.
If you secure your perimeter (Rambo talk) the wee bairns won't be dining at your house.
